About Me
Dr. Maya Rethazi, Ph.D., Psychologist
I received my Ph.D. in Child Clinical and School Psychology from the University of Toronto in 1998. I am registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario and I am a member of the Ontario Psychological Association.
I have been trained in play therapy as well as cognitive behaviour therapy, and consequently use a flexible approach to treatment with a focus on relationship building, problem solving, and emotional support.
I worked for the Toronto District School Board for 25 years, and I have experience with families from many diverse cultural backgrounds. My experience at the school board as well as in my private practice includes working with children and adolescents presenting with a variety of challenges, including learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, anxiety, depression, and oppositional and aggressive behaviour. I also have experience working with clients who identify on the 2SLGBTQ+ spectrum, including providing support for self-acceptance and coming out to friends and family.
I am also a qualified French teacher and I can offer assessments in French for students in French-Language schools or French Immersion programs.
